The number of employees participating in the Johnson & Johnson corporate fitness program jumped after they offered the incentive -- to more than 93%. Johnson & Johnson also reported that it spends $4.5 million each year on its comprehensive preventive health care programs but it estimates that without these (wellness) programs their medical bills would be at least $13 million higher.

Cianbro, an employee-owned construction company with approximately 2,000 employees, implemented its Healthy Lifestyle Program in 2003. By its third year, the program had a participation rate of 68%. Over two years, 16% of participants decreased their risk for overweight, 20% improved their blood cholesterol profile, and 49% reported improving their level of physical activity.  (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)

Lincoln Industries, a small, metal finishing company with about 450 employees, runs an employee wellness program known as Go! Platinum.
